Birmingham City clinched a point on the road at West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday night
Birmingham City manager Chris Davies
Chris Davies has bluntly dismissed West Bromwich Albion’s complaints over a penalty that wasn’t given in their draw with Birmingham City.
Baggies boss Ryan Mason felt aggrieved that his side weren’t awarded a penalty before Marvin Ducksch’s equaliser when Aune Heggebo went down under a challenge from Patrick Roberts.
Ducksch soon scored to cancel out Alex Mowatt’s opening goal at The Hawthorns and ensure the spoils were shared in the West Midlands derby.
Mason said: “I haven’t seen it back but my opinion was that you could see the ball didn’t change direction and Bo is not the type of player to go down without contact.
“We’ll see in a couple of days when we get the email through. I know we’ve had quite a few emails this season saying the decision was unanimously wrong so that’ll be interesting, but it doesn’t change the game and the result.”
Mason’s comments were put to Blues boss Davies, who worked alongside his Albion counterpart on Tottenham Hotspur’s coaching staff, in his post-match press conference.
Davies responded: “No, I haven’t seen it, I can’t even remember it, which tells you how much it was a penalty.”
The draw means Blues stay ninth in the Championship table, two points outside the play-off places after 17 matches.
