Police are appealing for witnesses

An elderly woman has sadly died after a mobility scooter she was on was hit by a car. Police said the 87-year-old suffered ‘fatal injuries’ in the crash in Salford and was taken to hospital, where she later passed away.
Issuing an appeal for witnesses, Greater Manchester Police said the woman was on a pavement when the scooter ‘suddenly began to cross’ into a road. It was then hit by a Volvo.
The collision happened at around 11.14am on Thursday on Manchester Road West in Little Hulton, Salford. The woman hasn’t been named. The collision is being investigated by GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
In a statement, GMP said: “Our Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are appealing for information following a collision at around 11.14am on Thursday 27 November 2025 on Manchester Road West in Little Hulton.
“A driver of a Volvo was travelling westbound on Manchester Road West when an elderly woman on a mobility scooter was travelling eastbound on the pavement before it suddenly began to cross, causing a collision to occur.

“The mobility scooter rider, an 87-year-old woman, suffered fatal injuries and was taken to hospital where she sadly died. Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are asking for anyone with information to please come forward.
“This includes anyone who saw the vehicle driving before the collision, witnessed the incident itself, or have dashcam footage of the incident.
