But some have been accused of getting a bit too close for their close-ups.

The Friends of Horsey Seals has highlighted what it describes as “totally unacceptable behaviour” by photographers.

The charity posted its own photographs on Facebook, showing two people taking pictures on the beach.

A spokesman said: “This morning the seal rescue team were checking on a pup that was flagged a few days ago as potentially being abandoned.

“They arrived at Winterton-on-Sea at 8am to find two photographers on the beach, in very close proximity to a seal pup.”

The organisation says photographers should not get closer than 100 metres to the creatures.

Both Horsey and Winterton-on-Sea are home to thousands of seals each winter.

The spokesman added: “The first picture shows how close one of the guys was, wielding a camera with a huge zoom lens.

“Why would someone with that kind of camera need to be so close?”
