Officers attended an “incident” at Haymarket in the city centre where a Palestine Action protest was being carried out.

Police arrested 10 people for holding placards in support of Palestine Action during the demonstration.

One man, dressed as Father Christmas, was dragged by officers away from the protest.

Many bemused onlookers can be heard laughing, with some applauding him.

He can be heard saying: “Merry Christmas kids,” as he is being dragged away.

“These guys are going on the naughty list,” he continued as well as saying “I’ve got presents to make”.

Superintendent Terry Lordan said: “Our role as a police force is to prevent disorder, damage and disruption in the local community. Today, this involved arresting individuals who were committing offences under the Terrorism Act.

“The actions of this group were unlawful and officers have used their powers accordingly.”
