West Ham are preparing a planned action within minutes of kick-off against Liverpool, and it’s one that will shine a spotlight on the real class of the travelling Reds fans.

In a fixture already charged with importance, the gesture will be a poignant moment that should have the London Stadium flooded with passion and emotion.

It will also give Liverpool supporters another chance to show their true class – just like West Ham did on their last visit to Anfield.

The Hammers welcome Liverpool to east London on Sunday in what is a huge game for both clubs.

Both Leeds and Burnley lost this weekend meaning West Ham have the chance to put some daylight between them and the Premier League relegation zone.

Meanwhile Liverpool are the talk of world football on their unprecedented run of defeats with nine losses in their last 12 games.

The Reds lost 3-0 at home to Forest last weekend and followed it up with a 4-1 Champions League loss to PSV at Anfield in midweek.

That should give West Ham plenty of encouragement about getting a positive result against Liverpool, particularly off the back of two wins and a draw in their last three games.

But some things are bigger than football.

That was proven when the Hammers went to Anfield back in April.

Liverpool marked the 36th anniversary of the Hillsborough tragedy with a number of tributes in and around the game against the Hammers.

It was the nearest fixture to April 15, when in 1989 the disaster at the FA Cup semi-final with Nottingham Forest resulted in 97 supporters tragically losing their lives.

Liverpool supporters swarmed social media over the behaviour of West Ham at Anfield that day and were all saying the same thing.

Now comes the chance for Liverpool to show their own class.

West Ham plan action minutes into Liverpool clash

For West Ham, it’s about respect, unity and setting the tone for one of the club’s most legendary players, Billy Bonds.

West Ham royalty Bonds is arguably the club’s most legendary player of all-time alongside the great Bobby Moore and Sir Trevor Brooking.

Bonds made over 800 appearances for West Ham, a club record that still stands today. He was also named West Ham’s Player of the Year four times and was voted into the club’s Hall of Fame in 2004.

After retiring as a player, Bonds went on to become a successful manager, taking charge of West Ham on two separate occasions. He led the team to promotion from the Second Division in 1991 and also managed the club during a difficult period in the late 1990s.

An imposing, uncompromising and hard but fair figure on the field, Bonds has always been a very private and unassuming individual off it.

News has emerged among West Ham fans that the 79-year-old has been suffering from ill health of late.

Now West Ham plan action minutes into the Liverpool clash that will show the true class of Reds supporters.

Prominent Hammers insider Sean Whetstone has announced plans for supporters to chant ‘Billy Bonds’ Claret and Blue Army’ from the fourth minute at the London Stadium in the game against Liverpool.

Fans are asked to belt the chant out for as long as they can to send their best wishes to Bonzo and his family.

Whetstone states Bonds ‘has not been well for some time’.

Liverpool fans will undoubtedly pay their respects too and could show the power of the football family by joining in with the chant.

That would be an emotional and wholesome moment, especially with the game being broadcast live to the watching millions around the world.

Everyone at Hammers News sends their best wishes to Billy and his family and know the club’s supporters will do him and the club proud in honouring one of – if not the – greatest players in their 130-year history.
