Nuno Espirito Santo may have received an injury boost ahead of Liverpool’s visit to the London Stadium to take on West Ham United.

The Portuguese will be looking to take his team further away from the relegation zone and compound misery on Arne Slot’s side.

West Ham United go into this one on the back of a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth, while Liverpool are on the back of two humiliating home defeats, putting Slot in serious sack danger.

Konstantinos Mavropanos has been spotted in first-team training ahead of the game against Liverpool.

West Ham’s official website shared images of the training session and the Greece international was seen in training with the rest of the team.

Nuno stated in the pre-match press conference that the 27-year-old will be assessed ahead of the game against the defending champions.

Mavropanos has been ruled out with a thigh injury for the last few weeks, but appears to have trained normally ahead of Sunday’s match.

He has been absent from the matchday squad since the 2-0 defeat against Brentford on 21 October.

Prior to that, he played the full 90 minutes in five of the Hammers’ eight Premier League games.

Nuno will undoubtedly have a decision to make on Mavropanos ahead of the Liverpool game.

After being out for over a month, there will be some sluggishness that he may have to deal with.

That means he may not be at 100 per cent and may need to be eased into the side.

It could mean giving him 60 minutes and then taking him off, but that’s a call that the medical staff will have made in the days leading up to the game.

Max Kilman’s abject display against Bournemouth suggests that if there is an alternative option, Nuno is likely to go for it.

It will also be interesting to see whether or not he persists with a back three or moves to a back four in order to avoid getting outplayed in the middle of the park.
