Talbot sold out their hospitality and appear set to host the game at their usual home ground despite speculation otherwise
Auchinleck Talbot put tickets on sale for hospitality for their clash with Celtic as soon as the draw was made last night – and sold it out within minutes.
The Ayrshire side, who play in Tier 6 of the pyramid, thumped SPFL side Dumbarton 4-0 to move into the Scottish Cup fourth round draw and have been awarded a glamour tie for the ages with the 42-time champions heading to Ayrshire.
They’ve been famed for their cup upsets over the years and they’ll now get the chance to cause one of the all-time fairytale stories on the weekend of January 17.
Talbot‘s home ground, Beechwood Park, holds less than 4,000 people and such is the scramble for briefs that many punters weren’t leaving anything to chance. The club announced hours after the draw that the small hospitality allocation had already been snapped up as they wrote on X: “HOSPITALITY SOLD OUT! In rapid time, our hospitality packages have sold out for our upcoming match against Celtic. Further details regarding the match will be communicated in due course through official club channels.”
General tickets are not yet on sale and there has been some speculation they could move it to nearby Rugby Park to capitalise on the bumper support.
The announcement that they have already sold all their hospitality briefs doesn’t completely rule out a temporary ground move, but it is an indication they plan to play it at their usual home turf.
They elected not to do move grounds when they hosted Hearts in 2022. Back then, the standing allocation of 3,270 was split roughly down the middle, with 1,785 tickets given to home fans and the visitors handed 1,485.
That’s certain to spark a hectic scramble from Celtic fans once the tickets do go on general sale.
