Roman Kemp said his dad Martin “doesn’t have mates” meaning his days on I’m A Celeb will mean the world to him. After tonight’s episode when the camp were granted a night out in the Jungle Arms, he wrote: “One thing I have noticed is my dad keeps saying ‘my new friends’. He genuinely doesn’t have mates so he means it, he’ll really be chuffed. Again not being mean, that’s the truth.”
He also appeared to take a swipe at I’m A Celeb over his father’s little time on screen. Martin Kemp is one of this year’s campmates but many have been wondering where he is, as he has not been seen much on the show. Martin was one of the original line up to head out to the Jungle this year, six years after his son Roman went on the show. But in the weeks he has been in Australia, Martin has barely made an appearance on camera.

Fans have been calling for the Spandau Ballet musician to have a bigger part on the show. One wrote: “Martin gets 0 airtime, someone make him do a trial or smth pls, atp do camp even know he’s still in there #imaceleb.”
Another added: “Please show more of Martin, imagine the stories he could be telling about the 80’s, his Spandau Ballet days & not being shown.”
Even his own son seemed peeved that his father did not get much screen time, as when Martin finally had a conversation with someone in the camp, he posted to X in excitement. Martin was talking to his campmates about having a twiglet.
The radio host posted a video of Declan Donnelly, one of the show’s hosts, walking down the rope bridge and cheering as sparklers went off behind him. Over the top, Roman wrote: “My dad had an actual conversation on camera!!! #ImACelebrity.”
Fans of the show continued to get annoyed with campmate Lisa Riley though, as Lisa seemed to be hogging the spotlight from Martin. As the camp partied in The Jungle Arms, they started karaoke, and while other musicians, such as Aitch, were able to get time to themselves to sing their own songs, Martin’s moment had to be shared.

As Gold by Spandau Ballet played, Lisa was the one to hold the microphone and do most of the singing. One fan wrote: “Lisa you’ve just sang your own song let Martin sing his own song thanks.”
Another added: “Poor Martin was just trying to sing his own song but couldn’t get the mic off Lisa.” A third said: “Poor Martin couldn’t even get airtime on his own bloody song lmao.”
Some were worried his short air time would mean he would be the next to leave, after Vogue Williams, Eddie Kadi and Alex Scott. However, the fourth campmate to leave was Kelly Brook.
