Despite Hull KR landing the treble in 2025, Hull FC were still one of the stories of the season as they went from a dour 2024 campaign where they won just three games to a seventh-placed finish under new head coach John Cartwright.
The Black and Whites just missed out on the play-offs but recorded their best Super League campaign for many a year, winning as many games as they lost, whilst drawing another.
For 2026, they’ve added to their squad again with Jake Arthur signed to play in the halves alongside Aidan Sezer whilst their pack has also been replenished with the likes of Harvie Hill, Sam Lisone, Joe Batchelor and James Bell all arriving.
Such recruitment clearly shows the club’s ambition, particularly in light of the fact they had signed Will Pryce mid-season in 2025 and that’s seen real debate around whether they can make the play-offs for the first time since 2020.
Will Hull FC make the play-offs in 2026?
Serious About Rugby League asked fans if Hull FC will make the Super League play-offs in 2026 with opinion split across the board.
Many pointed to their improvements under John Cartwright and further recruitment, however, the likes of Warrington and Catalans are both expected to improve leaving the fight for the top six potentially more open than in 2025.
Rob Fletcher: Hull could get in but so could the likes of Warrington.
Dave Phillips: If we don’t get the same injuries to the key players then yes. We need Asiata on the field as much as possible, also need Pryce on the field and keep Zak in his normal position.
Gary Jackson: Last season was a one off. Next season, normal transmission will be resumed.
Paul Hugh McGuigan: I’d be surprised if not. I’m a KR fan but I predicted FC to be eighth or ninth last season.
James Mouer: If the squad stays fit, we will easy get top six but it’s a big if. We never stay injury free.
Linda Proctor: With the owner we have, the great coach and the coaching staff, they certainly will.
Matt Kemp: Probably but their home form is so unpredictable. I’ve never known a team do so well away and so poorly at home as last season.
Mark Douglas: Who is dropping out to make way for them?
