EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders’ Oscar Branning celebrates his 18th birthday next week – but he can’t stop thinking about Jasmine Fisher following tumultuous times between the teenage lovebirds. Oscar and Jasmine’s fledgling relationship has been fraught with difficulties, mostly linked to Jasmine’s reluctance to open up to Oscar about her past and the true reason she came to Walford.

Things worsened between the pair when Jasmine pushed Cindy Beale down the stairs, then lied to her boyfriend about the crime in a bid to save her own skin.

Ahead of Oscar’s big day, Lauren Branning rallies the Brannings and Beales for party planning, organising a knees-up in the The Albert to celebrate her little brother.

“Oscar may only have arrived back in Walford earlier this year, but he’s made a big impression on his sister,” says our EastEnders insider.

“So, she goes all out for his big birthday. It’s hard to believe Oscar’s turning 18 when his on-screen birth in the Branning house seems like just yesterday – time flies!”

When the night of the party arrives, it’s clear that Oscar is delighted with his sister Lauren’s efforts – but it’s also obvious that something is playing on his mind following his recent conflict with his girlfriend Jasmine.

“Oscar is totally lovesick over Jasmine,” reveals a source. “Their relationship is tempestuous, and they’ve been going through difficult times. You only turn 18 once, and it should be about welcoming adulthood with your family, friends and a drink or two, not moping about!”

The insider continued: “It’s not like cheeky Oscar to miss a party, so he really must be cut up over her.”

In the run up to the festive season, will Oscar and Jasmine manage to work things out and kiss and make up under the mistletoe, or is the teen set for more heartache this Christmas?

These scenes will air on Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 December.

EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
