As has been the case in the past two seasons, The Wire will host neighbours Widnes Vikings in a friendly match at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.
The match will take place on Friday, January 9, with a 7.30pm kick off. Tickets are priced at £17 for adults, £12 for concessions and £5 for juniors across all stands, with 2026 members entitled to a discount.
Widnes won last year’s pre-season meeting 36-22, with Wire running out 44-40 victors 12 months prior.
In the past two years, Warrington have used this match to give a run-out to fringe first-team players and younger members of the squad, although whether they will do the same in this game is currently unclear.
For Widnes, it will be their final friendly before they kick off their Championship campaign with a trip to London Broncos on January 18. Allan Coleman’s side will then face either Thatto Heath Crusaders or Seaton Rangers in the Challenge Cup second round over the weekend of January 24-25.
It is understood this will be the first of two home friendlies The Wire will play before their first competitive fixture – a Challenge Cup third-round tie over the weekend of February 7-8 – with the second to be played closer to the end of January.
