– Sprint: P6, 15 laps
– Qualifying: P15, 1:41.758, 13 laps
Carlos Sainz scored three points in the Sprint in Belgium, where he started from sixth place and finished in the same position in a race marked by DRS trains.
The Williams race driver was able to work on the set-up of his FW47 before the Qualifying session, but he didn’t feel comfortable with his car in Q2 and he felt he needed more grip in order to attack confidently.
The Spanish race driver made it through Q1 (1:41.691) with the seventh fastest time of the session, but in Q2 (1:41.758) he had to settle for fifteenth due to the lack of grip of his car.
QUOTES:
“Disappointed with this result. I had a strong lap in Q1 but didn’t manage to go any faster in Q2, as I didn’t manage to find grip. We’ve tried different directions with car balance and experimented a bit with set-up throughout the weekend, but obviously today didn’t go our way and we need to analyze it. Hopefully tomorrow there will be opportunities as it could be wet, so let’s keep focused as the weekend is not over yet”.
