Nancy is assessing the squad at Celtic as he draws up plans for a big January window

Wilfried Nancy says he’s only going to make up his mind on signings after he’s had an in-depth look at his Celtic squad.
And that will be music to Jota‘s ears after the injury-hit winger told the new boss not to forget about him.
The Portuguese wide-man is battling back from a severe knee injury which has kept him out since April and he’s not expected to be back on the pitch until after the New Year.
It’s a situation new boss Nancy will be keen to get a handle on as he draws up his plans for his first transfer window. But the Frenchman is keen not to go wading into the market until he has a firm handle on the squad at hand.
The manager was asked by Sky Sports if he’s already spoken to the Celtic board about the upcoming window and said: “Yes. Obviously before I signed, it was important for me to understand why we do what we do.
“Each window as a coach is really important. To bring in players within the season is not the same as when you bring in players before the season starts.
“We will assess the players first then decide the positions we need. This is what we are looking for already. We’ll see.”
Jota getting there slowly but surely and recently made a public appearance alongside Daizen Maeda at a fan superstore event.
He managed four goals in 11 league appearances after his January return to Parkhead and he’s champing at the bit to get back on the pitch – and prove to Nancy he’s a key player going forward.
He told Celtic TV: “It’s always lovely to be around people and share a bit what Celtic is about.
“I can’t wait to get some minutes, take some photos, and just to be around the people again and feel the love.

“It’s all good (with the injury). I’m really thrilled to just come back and do my thing again with the help of the lads.
“I think it’s going the right way, but obviously it’s a big one so we just need to be sure about everything and that’s what I want to do.”
