A planning application to expand Hitchin Dental Practice in Highbury Road has been submitted to North Herts Council.

The proposal is to change the residential use of the upper four floors of the building to commercial use, enabling the existing ground floor dental practice to expand.

The expansion would include a reception/waiting area, three consultation rooms and staff facilities.

In a design and access statement accompanying the planning application, it says the expansion will “meet growing patient demand and enhance the range of services offered”.

The scheme involves minor internal reconfiguration only, with no external alterations to the building or its elevations other than the introduction of new signage.

Cycle parking will be provided within the site for both staff and patients.

The existing three on-site parking spaces will remain available for use by the practice.

The design and access statement points to the expansion increasing the provision of NHS dental services in the town, generating employment, and supporting the growth of a local healthcare business.
