Get jump-scared by the teaser trailer for Primal Darkness, a found footage creature feature described as The Blair Witch Project meets Bone Tomahawk.

The indie film follows Cole Harrington, the host of a popular outdoor series, who sets out to track down the predator responsible for a series of cattle attacks in rural Nevada. The mystery deepens when he uncovers footage depicting the final moments of two missing university employees.

“With this film, I wanted to push myself into uncomfortable places,” says writer-director Dillon Brown (Tahoe Joe). “It isn’t fun. It isn’t playful. Primal Darkness is meant to unsettle you.”

Shot in the Nevada high desert this past summer, the production was as intense behind the camera as the story depicted on screen. The shoot was plagued by real-world hazards, including treacherous terrain, extreme conditions, and even on-set accidents.

Brown, who also stars in the film, suffered multiple broken bones during a particularly perilous stunt sequence, pushing through the pain to complete what he describes as “the darkest, most demanding work of my career.”

Blake Hyer, Maxwell Golden, Dustin Tamplen, and Michael Rock round out the cast.

Primal Darkness is expected to see the light of day in Spring 2026.
