Two Metallica fans have been banned for life from a venue in Australia following an incident at a show in November.

The concert took place at the Optus Stadium in Perth on November 1st. During the show, Beau William Loch Rollings, aged 20, and Rory Hugh Culbert, aged 23, scaled the tower at the Optus Stadium, which has led to them never being allowed to return to the venue.

Following the show, they were arrested and charged.

According to Perth Now, Perth Magistrates Court heard that the pair had jumped over security fencing about 10.30pm, and remained on the tower, which is situated at heights ranging from 10 to 50 metres, for 20 minutes before eventually climbing down.

The tower was an integral part of the sound system for the concert.

At the hearing, Perth Magistrate Ruth Dineen described the incident as “something that seemed funny at the time” to the pair, who were charged with trespassing and immediately pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.

The magistrate also criticised the exploit as “an incredibly stupid thing to do and a good way to ruin your night out”.

Meanwhile, the duo’s defence lawyer Rachael Gemmell described it as “just stupid behaviour”.

In addition to being banned from the stadium for life, Rollings was fined $1000 and ordered to pay $308.80 in court costs, which is a similarly financial penalty that Cuthbert has also been given.

Rollings admitted in court that they had been drinking prior to deciding to climb up the tower on November 1st.

Metallica’s ongoing M72 World Tour is set to return to the UK and Europe in 2026. They are set to play two shows at the London Stadium in the English capital, as well as visiting Hampden Park in Glasgow and the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
