Featherstone Rovers

Featherstone Rovers have confirmed their HMRC hearing has been adjourned once more as they wait to enter administration.

The West Yorkshire outfit announced earlier this week that they had applied to go into administration due to the level of debt they find themselves in.

The Championship outfit have been forced to postpone their upcoming pre-season friendly with Castleford Tigers due to their circumstances.

In the initial statement, Featherstone outlined expectations that the winding up petition filed against them would be adjourned following their application to enter administration and that has turned out to be the case.

That decision was made on Tuesday, with the club hoping to welcome in an independent administrator to help manage the business and its debts in the coming days.

The fresh statement read: “Rovers can confirm that, as expected, the HMRC winding up petition was adjourned again yesterday to allow the club to follow up on its application to enter administration.

“That process will, hopefully, be finalised in the next few days.”

Featherstone have also moved to clear up any confusion around what their application to enter administration would mean for Featherstone Rovers’ Foundation with the club outlining that the Foundation is a registered charity and therefore unaffected by the Rovers’ plight.

A separate statement read: “Rovers can confirm that the process the club is currently going through by applying to go into administration IN NO WAY affects the tremendous work that the Featherstone Rovers Foundation carries out.

“The Foundation is a separate legal entity and a Registered Charity and has been, and continues to be, a shining light for the local community with all the projects, clubs and other activities it provides.

“We hope that local bodies and individuals will continue to support the great work they do.”

Featherstone head coach Paul Cooke spoke to the BBC earlier this week to discuss his situation.
