Iga Swiatek’s head coach, Wim Fissette, guided the Pole to a sixth Grand Slam title earlier this month.
Swiatek won her first Wimbledon championship with the Belgian in her corner, who she appointed in October last year.
Before he started working with the Pole, Fissette had coached several women since 2009, including Grand Slam champions Kim Clijsters, Simona Halep, and Naomi Osaka.
Having worked with countless top WTA stars for so long, Fissette has noticed a big change in the women’s game over the years.

In an interview with ‘Tennis Insider Club’, Fissette said: “Training has been changing a lot.
“I mean, physically, if you go to the tournaments, all the gyms are packed, and it used to be that the gym was super small and nobody would be there.
“Physically, just speaking about women’s tennis, it is incredible. 15 years ago, you would play one big forehand into the corner, and the opponent would be there, maybe with a slice or a short ball.
“Now you hit that shot, and they are physically so strong to go on the counterattack already.
“It is so different. That is why tennis has evolved so much in the last 15 years.”

Swiatek announced that Fissette would be her new coach on the 17th of October 2024, and since then has had her ups and downs.
She went out in the group stage of the WTA Finals that year, which would mark her last tournament of the season.

In 2025 so far, Swiatek has made the semi-finals of all three Grand Slam events, bowing out in the final four of the Australian Open and Roland Garros before winning it all at Wimbledon.
Outside of major events, the 24-year-old has reached just one final, which came at the Bad Homburg Open in June, where she lost to Jessica Pegula in the championship match.
