Princess Catherine has taken to social media to post a touching new video to fans. The Princess of Wales thanked people for contributing to the Ever After Garden.
The winter art installation, located on Kings Road in London, features over 30,000 illuminated white roses. It is currently raising money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. The Prince and Princess of Wales posted on Instagram: “Thank you to all those who have contributed to the Ever After Garden, which raises vital funds for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. Every flower, every light, is a memory held together, an illumination of shared love, remembrance, and hope.”
The post comes after King Charles confirmed his cancer treatment is being scaled back in January. He was diagnosed in February 2024 when he was admitted to hospital for an enlarged prostate.
Princess Catherine was also diagnosed with cancer in early 2024 after abdominal surgery. She underwent preventive chemotherapy and announced she was in remission in January.
The Ever After Garden, which is free to enter, was designed by Anya Hindmarch. It supports The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity through donations for rose dedications which fund research and care.
The installation will be available to visit at the Duke of York Square green until Tuesday (December 16). Since being introduced in 2019, the garden has raised over £1.2 million.
A number of people have taken to the comment section of the Instagram post to react to the message. Brittany Kooienga said: “Such a beautiful garden for an incredibly important cause.”
@jodisuejessupwilson added: “Truly beautiful, thank you.” @ sempiternalviews wrote: “We visited London last year at Christmas. The Ever After Garden was on our list of things to see and do. It was all I expected. A wonderful and meaningful experience.”
The King has recently urged men to take up screenings for prostate cancer. A spokesperson said Buckingham Palace has since been “delighted by the scale and sensitivity of the worldwide media reaction”.
Buckingham Palace’s spokesperson added: “I know His Majesty will be greatly encouraged and deeply touched by the very positive reaction his message has generated.
“He will be particularly pleased at the way it has helped to shine a light on the benefits of cancer screening programmes.
“It has long been The King’s view that if some public good can come from sharing elements of his personal diagnosis and treatment journey, then it would be his pleasure and duty to do so.
“His thoughts and warmest wishes will remain with all those affected by cancer and those who care for them.”
