More than 30 firefighters are tackling a fire involving multiple vehicles on the second floor of the Addenbrooke’s Hospital car park.

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service, and neighbouring fire services, plus other specialist vehicles were called to the Cambridge hospital on Saturday afternoon.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: “Crews are working hard to contain the fire and stop it from spreading. Please avoid the area as we deal with this incident and find alternative routes.

“There are not thought to be any injuries at this time.”

A Cambridgeshire Constabulary spokesperson added: “A number of vehicles are involved but there are not thought to be any injuries at this time.

“Residents are urged to stay clear of the area and close windows and doors due to the smoke.

“Access if currently limited/restricted and roads closures are in place on Robinson Way, Puddicombe Way, Adrian Way and Richard Howe Way. Please avoid the area if at all possible.”

At 6.15pm, the fire service said: “Firefighters are making good progress. Crews will be on scene throughout the evening and overnight to continue extinguishing the fire and to dampen down the area. Road closures on site remain in place.”
