Highfield House, on Wells Road, was previously occupied by the sixth form college for the former Fakenham Academy.

The school closed down in 2017 and has since relocated to the nearby Fakenham High School on Fields Lane.

The building has been vacant ever since, although plans were recently put forward to convert the site into six homes.

This would also involve the construction of 20 more homes, with a mixture of terraced, semi-detached and detached two, three and four-bedroom houses planned.

In a planning statement with the application, it was confirmed that the other facilities at the site, the ATC Hall and the Duke of Lancaster Academy, will be unaffected by the proposal.

The statement added that the development “will provide a range of housing to meet the needs of different groups within the local community”.

A decision on whether or not to approve the plans will be made by North Norfolk District Council at a later date.
