Agincare has pledged to donate £2,500 annually to support the “vital work” of Weymouth Amateur Boxing Club.

The money will support people of all ages across the town, particularly young people who benefit from the discipline and confidence the club provides.

The donation is part of a long-standing relationship between the care provider and the club.

Over the last decade, Agincare has donated more than £20,000 to the organisation.

The founder and chairman of Agincare, Derek Luckhurst, has supported the club for many years, recognising its positive influence on the community.

His son, Agincare director Adam Luckhurst, is continuing this commitment.

Having trained at the club himself, he understands the impact it has.

Mr Luckhurst said: “I’m really pleased that we are able to increase our support for Weymouth Amateur Boxing Club.

“It played a big part in my life and I’ve seen how much good it continues to do for young people and families in our town.

“We’re proud to help ensure the club can carry on its brilliant work for years to come.”

The club’s head coach, Mark Ford, expressed his gratitude for the continued support.

He said: “We’re delighted that Agincare, a long-term supporter of the club, has increased its generous annual donation.

“This funding will go directly towards the upkeep and maintenance of our nearly century-old club, helping us provide a safe, positive environment for young people in town.”

Agincare has also sponsored the vests and shorts used by Weymouth Amateur Boxing Club.

While expanding its services nationwide, Agincare maintains its roots in Weymouth and Portland.

The care provider’s first care home, Agincourt, established in 1986, is located a short distance from the boxing club on Dorchester Road.

With its head office based in Castletown, Agincare provides a range of care services including residential care and nursing homes, home care, live-in care, extra care, supported living, and a new children’s service.
