While details are still to officially be announced of when the series will hit television screens, it’s our understanding Sky will show the series with the first episode likely to drop the week before the World Club Challenge in mid February as the series is timed to coincide with Rover’s huge game with Brisbane Broncos and the following week’s match against Leeds Rhinos in Las Vegas. The documentary series is called Renaissance and consists of seven episodes. The opening episode picks up in the immediate aftermath of the 2024 Grand Final defeat to Wigan Warriors, with the first three episodes following the club through the first half of the season building up to the Challenge Cup final. The Cup final success and aftermath is all encapsulated in the fourth episode, with the last three concerning the final third of the season as the Robins pushed for the treble. The title of the first four episodes are; 1) We Go Again, 2) Rovers ’til I die, 3) Big Impact, 4) Memories are better than dreams. The documentary is not a fly on the wall series following every move of the players and coaching staff across 2025. Unlike the Wigan Warriors documentary following their 2024 season, this is not a warts and all story of what happened to the team. We have seen episode four and while Willie Peters and Mikey Lewis are interviewed to look back on the Challenge Cup final, there is no footage of the team in the build-up the day before or on the morning of the game. Cameras are not with the players in the dressing room before kick-off, there’s no scenes of a half-time team talk or indeed even the post match celebrations inside Wembley. The focus of the episode is very much on the supporters, their experience and what success means to them, the community and those like Neil Hudgell who have been the backbone of the club for so long. There are some revelations. It may not be a fly on the wall documentary, but there are some honest revelations that come out from player interviews across the series. One small nugget is what the players were asked to do before the Challenge Cup final in terms of a letter they all wrote to themselves and what happened afterwards. The idea of producing a documentary was that of owner Neil Hudgell and chairman Paul Sewell, the latter of which has previous history as a film producer. Mr Sewell was previously executive producer on a film entitled Who is Yorkshire? That film was produced in association with Eski Media, a local company who have produced the Renaissance documentary for Hull KR.The brief of the documentary was to tell the story of Hull KR’s turnaround from all view points, on the pitch, in the boardroom, in the community work and the impact all of that has on the people of East Hull. With the club on the rise Hudgell and Sewell believed the 2025 season would be a great time to showcase how fortunes had changed throughout the club, they had no idea what followed would be the greatest season in Rovers’ history.Follow Hull Live:
