Jeremie Frimpong is close to a return following his hamstring injury, and two of Liverpool’s February fixtures have been moved for television.

Jeremie Frimpong return from injury is “imminent”
Frimpong has been out since injuring his hamstring against Eintracht Frankfurt on October 22, but his return is now “imminent,” according the Athletic.
Reporter James Pearce said the 25-year-old “has been doing the final stages of his rehab” on the outdoor pitches in Kirkby and is “taking part in some drills with the squad.”
Although the right-back “close to being given the green light for full team training,” we are unlikely to see him play against Tottenham on Saturday.

This latest update indicates Frimpong could be available for Liverpool’s Anfield meeting with Wolves on December 27.
The club won’t rush his return, though, given he has already suffered two hamstring injuries this season, having not missed a match through injury since 2023 prior to his summer transfer from Bayer Leverkusen.
Thankfully, with Joe Gomez also injured, Conor Bradley is back from suspension and should start at right-back in north London this weekend.

More from This Is Anfield

With Ryan Gravenberch being asked to do the job of holding midfielder and box-to-box player at times this season, Joe Baker has written about how Liverpool signing a ‘proper’ No. 6 would help the Dutchman:
“Fans may read this and scoff at the suggestion of signing another midfielder this January. Indeed, a centre-half is probably the greater priority.
“Nonetheless, when people talk about the current squad being too top-heavy, it isn’t just about the number of attackers and defenders but the imbalance in midfield too.
“There is a glaring lack of players able to do the dirtier work in midfield and plug the holes that have been all too apparent this season.”

Liverpool FC: On this day

On December 17, 1955, Jimmy Melia scored a thumping left-footed volley on his Liverpool debut as the Reds beat Nottingham Forest 5-2 in the second division.
That day, the great Billy Liddell scored a hat-trick in the second half after John Evans had netted the opener.
Melia would go on to play 286 times for Liverpool, ending his career with a first-division title win under Bill Shankly in 1964.
