Antoine Semenyo impressed during his audition against Manchester United on Monday night when the Bournemouth star invited friends to attend an eight-goal thriller at Old Trafford.

Manchester United drew 4-4 with Bournemouth on Monday night after throwing away the lead three times. It was a chaotic night at Old Trafford, which included three auditions for Bournemouth players who have been linked with a move up north since the beginning of the season.

Semenyo was impressive as he scored Bournemouth’s first equaliser of the night. The Ghana international struggled to get the better of Leny Yoro before switching to the opposite flank, where he took advantage of Luke Shaw’s defending.

Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams was forced off with an injury early on, so he didn’t get to make an impression on Ruben Amorim — like Alex Scott, who only came on for five minutes.

Amad Diallo, Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha all got on the scoresheet for United, but four goals were not enough to clinch three points against Andoni Iraola’s side.

United remain interested in Semenyo following his performance at Old Trafford on Monday night.

The Bournemouth talisman has been one of the best players in the Premier League this season, which has led to interest from other clubs such as Man City and Tottenham.

Semenyo’s £65 million release clause becomes active in January. That means Bournemouth potentially face a fight to keep the Ghana international when the winter transfer window opens.

According to Daily Mail reporter Lewis Steele, Semenyo gifted tickets to friends for Bournemouth’s trip to Old Trafford.

“There are so many teams in for him, we don’t know where his allegiances lie,” Steele said.

“I know that on Monday night at Old Trafford he gave tickets to a few old friends, football friends from his former clubs. Is there anything to read into the fact that he gave them tickets to Old Trafford?

“I’m not sure, maybe? But maybe we’re reading too much into it.”

It’s an interesting anecdote, but the reporter is wary of reading too much into it. United fans will hope that it means Semenyo has a preference to play for United over other clubs.

Who does Antoine Semenyo support?

Semenyo is a lifelong Arsenal fan.

In an interview with The Athletic last year, Semenyo confirmed his allegiance to Arsenal.

“I am an Arsenal fan,” Semenyo said.

“I don’t conflict the two with my job. It is great to play against Arsenal, a team I have watched all my life and I want to play for the top clubs as well. In order for that to happen I need to prove it.”
