Emmerdale‘s Cain Dingle showed his vicious side towards an unexpected victim, during Moira’s bitter clash with Joe Tate. Moira has been battling to save Butler’s Farm from going under, following a devastating fine for a slurry spillage.
Word quickly travelled through the village, with Joe pouncing on the opportunity by putting in an offer for the land. The farmer turned down his proposal, but determined Joe disclosed he had several tactics ready to secure his goal.
The most recent instalment on Monday night, July 28, witnessed a raid at the farm, with two hooded trespassers menacing Moira’s stepson Kyle.
Following their retreat after being confronted with a shotgun, Moira contacted police, only to later discover there wasn’t enough proof to pursue the matter. Certain Joe orchestrated the invasion, an enraged Moira decided to handle things herself on the ITV soap.
However, tensions boiled over at Hope Farm and as Moira attempted to strike Joe, Lydia Dingle intervened, inadvertently taking the hit. In tonight’s episode, Moira faces arrest on assault charges and gets transported to the station for interrogation, reports Digital Spy.

Whilst awaiting her legal representative, DS Swirling discloses she could be looking at six months behind bars. At the same time, Joe calls on Lydia and Sam to express regret over his part in the altercation.
He denies any connection to the burglary, declaring: “It is not how I operate.”
Joe asks whether Lydia has contacted the police, and when she reveals she wouldn’t grass up Moira, he confesses he’s already done so. The Dingles are appalled to find themselves in such an awkward predicament with their kin.
Subsequently, Cain instructs Lydia to concoct a tale for the police to shield Moira. When Lydia declines, he declares it “isn’t a request”, stating: “You do as you’re told.”
Lydia attempts to hold firm, but he delivers a vicious warning, suggesting consequences if she defies his command. He stares her down before marching off, leaving Lydia rattled.
At the Woolpack, it’s disclosed that Moira has been freed from the police station following the complaint being withdrawn. She rushes over to say sorry to a severely battered Lydia, who clarifies that it was actually Joe who retracted his statement.
The mood is icy amongst the Dingles as Sam brands Cain a bully towards his spouse. Cain tells Sam he ought to be backing his relatives, rather than the Tates, and when Lydia stands up for Joe, he brands her “thick”.
Cain announces that his sibling must “pick a side”, to which Sam responds: “I’ve already picked one and it isn’t yours!”. Could this fresh rift help Joe’s scheme to obtain the farm?
