Molly-Mae Hague’s older sister Zoe Rae revealed she packed up and left her luxury Bali holiday after just 48 hours as she slammed the differences between reality and social media

Molly-Mae Hague’s sister Zoe Rae has left Bali after just 48 hours after she claimed the paradise island is ‘nothing like influencers make out.’ The fitness influencer, 28, admitted she didn’t think her 10-day holiday lived up to the social media hype.
She had planned the lavish trip to Indonesia with her husband Danny to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. However, within just hours of being there Zoe claimed it was completely different to what it seemed online.
Speaking in her hotel room, Zoe admitted: “Since landing in Bali, something for us wasn’t quite right. We came here with high expectations because we had seen on social media that everyone was having such a lovely time.

“Gorgeous places to eat and lovely beaches, and lovely gyms and coffee shops. But if you took a picture of the coffee shop and zoomed out, you would see what the reality was.”
She added: “I don’t think the reality of Bali is shown much at all, and I do think it is down to a lot of influencers posting the more luxury side of things.”
Zoe explained that it wasn’t her first time travelling to Asia as she had spent five months before joining the army exploring Thailand, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong. She insisted: “I did a lot and spent time in these countries. But there is something very different about Bali.
“We got told Uluwatu where we are now is one of the best places to go, that’s why we came here. So if this is one of the better places, I’m not sure where the other places are like.”
Zoe did say she could see the appeal of the country, but thought it would be best for people backpacking rather than holidaying in one place. “I wasn’t going to sit down and say anything, but people want to know,” she added.
Danny then walked into the room and shared his own opinion on the trip. He said: “You either go on holiday to travel and experience culture or you want to go away to relax and not have to worry.”

Zoe explained they decided to pull the plug on their trip early as they “just wanted to get out”. Danny quipped: “Time is precious,” as Zoe added: “When you know you are not happy, why delay it. If you can go today, why not go today.
“We missed the mark, maybe we didn’t do our own research, maybe it is our own fault. I did a lot of research though.” Zoe ended by saying: “I think it is just personal preference, and our preference was that this isn’t for us, and we are making the executive decision to go enjoy our anniversary somewhere we know that we love and can relax and can drink the water.”
Zoe and Danny decided to head to Dubai for the rest of their anniversary trip instead. Her fans responded to her critique of Bali with mixed opinions as they warned others of following recommendations just through social media.
One said: “Indonesia’s one of the most poverty stricken countries in the world, I agree with Zoe that there’s something very uncomfortable about rich westerners going over there to glamorise the ‘good bits’ for their own monetary gain online.
“I love Zoe but it’s also a highlight of her own privilege being able to simply leave. I hope that those going over there to enjoy the culture and experience something new are thankful to the locals and give back in meaningful ways.”
Another added: “Bali is a beautiful island but if you’re used to going to Dubai etc then its absolutely nothing like that.” Someone else commented: “it’s kinda crazy people only do research on TikTok it’s so essential to do research before travel.”
A fourth wrote: “I’m so surprised by this! My wife and I had our honeymoon in Bali and it was divine.” “Bali is a truly magical place with incredible people! But it is a poor country and I think people forget that and expect it to be like Dubai when that isn’t the reality,” added another.
