A Huddersfield Giants centre, who is the son of a former Super League utility, has made a switch to the Championship ahead of the 2026 season.

Jack Hudson, the son of Ryan Hudson, has signed with Batley Bulldogs for the 2026 campaign after impressing for Huddersfield Giants in their academy and reserves.

Ryan Hudson was one of several players at the Giants to progress from the academy side into the reserves ahead of the 2025 season, with players such as Darius Carter, Leo Ward and Charlie Land all debuting for Huddersfield.

Another of those players who progressed alongside Hudson was Beau Morrison, the son of Glenn Morrision, with Beau recently signing for Newcastle Knights for 2026.

Morrison and Hudson both had fathers who played in Super League with Glenn Morrison representing Bradford Bulls and Wakefield Trinity, whilst Ryan Hudson played for Huddersfield, Wakefield and Castleford, including two spells at each of the Giants and the Tigers.

Huddersfield Giants reserves and Lancashire Origin back makes 2026 move

Hudson earns his move to the Championship after impressing in the Huddersfield reserves team in 2025 with the youngster having previously represented Yorkshire in academy Origin back in 2023.

He scored in that game as part of a Yorkshire team that included Noah booth, Oliver Pratt, Jack Charles and Jack Billington among others, with Hudson now hoping he can emulate their successes in the senior game.

A post on social media from Batley confirmed the signing, stating: “We are thrilled to announce the signing of young centre Jack Hudson from Super League outfit Huddersfield Giants.

“Jack came through the ranks at the Giants Academy, and having impressed most recently progressed to their reserves side. Welcome to Batley, Jack Hudson!”

Speaking on Hudson’s arrival, Batley coach James Ford said: “Jack is a talented young centre with a bright future. He has already shown flashes of brilliance, specifically in his sharpness, skill, and his relentless drive to improve.

“We are all excited to support Jack as he works towards fulfilling his potential.”
