Bristol Bears may have opened talks over a contract extension, but the future of Louis Rees-Zammit is far from settled. Interest is mounting from both sides of the Channel as the winger considers his next move.

The R360 Gamble That Didn’t Pay Off
According to Rugby Pass, he turned down a three-year deal worth around £600,000 per season from Newcastle Red Bulls in the summer, believing he would join R360 in 2026.
However, that plan went badly wrong after it was confirmed Mike Tindall’s breakaway league has been delayed until at least 2028.
Rees-Zammit is now earning roughly £220,000 per year at Bristol — a fraction of what he passed up, but his value on the pitch remains immense.
Back on the Wing, Back in Form
After his brief NFL adventure with the Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars, the 2021 Grand Slam winner has wasted no time making an impact in the Premiership. Three tries in six games show he’s still one of the league’s most explosive finishers.
Bonjour, Top 14!
French clubs are circling, attracted by Rees-Zammit’s pace, finishing ability, and the commercial profile he built during his NFL stint. With several Top 14 sides reportedly making enquiries, Bristol could face serious competition if they hope to keep him.
Bristol’s Uphill Battle
With his short-term deal approaching its end and overseas interest growing, Bristol Bears face a significant challenge if they want to secure Rees-Zammit’s signature beyond this season.
