A pair of thieves targeting Porsches have been sent to prison after pleading guilty to stealing 25 examples of the German luxury cars over the course of the year 2025. According to the Greater Manchester Police in the United Kingdom, the stolen cars had a value of up to £1 million, or roughly $1.35 million at current exchange rates.
According to police, Eidmantas Sadauskas and Vytautas Ceponis stole their first Porsche in January of this year. But, as when it comes to eating Pringles, they didn’t stop at just one; they kept stealing Porsches all around the greater Manchester area of Northwest England between then and October.
Police have not revealed the specific Porsche models stolen. However, with Porsche prices skyrocketing, for 25 of them to be worth “only” $1.3 million it is likely that most were Macans, Cayennes or Panameras and not 911s—or at least, not particularly nice 911s.
Authorities say the two men would use tools to disable the vehicle security system and then clone the car using different registration plates. Police believe they would then sell the car to buyers, including ones abroad.
An investigation into the thefts led to police stopping a vehicle on October 16 at 1 a.m. The car had been reported stolen, and Sadauskas and Ceponis were inside. When the car was searched, police said they found a blank car key, screwdrivers, pliers, and other tools that can be used to break into cars.
As the investigation continued, police were able to determine that Sadauskas and Ceponis were in the areas of the other Porsche thefts at the time they occurred. At the Minshull Street Crown Court on November 24, the two men pled guilty to conspiring to steal motor vehicles; Ceponis was sentenced to four years in jail and Sadauskas received a four-and-a-half-year sentence.
Police say that several of the Porsches have been recovered, but they are still working on locating the others so that they can be returned to the rightful owners. In the meantime, Porsche owners in the greater Manchester area can breathe a little bit easier.
