A four-year-old girl was bitten by an XL bully on a riverside footpath in Salford.

Greater Manchester Police has issued an appeal for information this morning (July 30) after the youngster was attacked by a dog on the River Irwell footpath, in Kersal.

The incident took place at some point between 2pm and 3pm on Saturday, July 19.

Fortunately, the young girl did not suffer any serious injuries from the attack, GMP says.

The force is now urging any witnesses to come forward with information, as an investigation into the attack shapes up.

A GMP Salford spokesperson said: “We are appealing for information following an incident which saw an XL bully bite a four-year-old child on footpath of the River Irwell in Kersal between 2-3pm on Saturday, July 19 2025.

“Thankfully no serious injury was sustained.
