The award recognises the group’s more than 50 years of contribution to music and culture in the British Bhangra scene.

Founded in the 1970s and led by Satpal, who marks his 50th year with the band, Anjaana has long been a driving force in the genre.

Their 1985 release Nachna Pia, recorded in Bradford’s Little Germany and featuring the late Kuldip Manak, remains one of their most influential works.

The band also supports charity through their frequent benefit performances, aiding both UK and international causes.
