Several customers who ate at Bristol city centre restaurant claim their Christmas was “ruined” after they fell ill in the days following their visit.

A series of recent Google reviews suggest that a number of diners at Three Brothers Burgers, on Welsh Back, suffered food poisoning symptoms after eating at the popular floating burger joint on Saturday and Sunday evenings (December 20 and 21).

The restaurant has temporarily closed and said it is aware of the reports, which it is investigating alongside an Environment Health Officer (EHO), who is in charge of food hygiene ratings, as well as Bristol City Council.

Separate reviewers reported being ill, and claimed that others in their party fell ill, after eating meals with chicken and beef.

At the time of writing there were 10 reviews accusing the restaurant of being the source of their illness.

One reviewer said: “I, along with three other people, ate here on Saturday night.

“We all had a mix of chicken and beef apart from one person who had a hotdog who wasn’t ill.

“It’s genuinely ruined our Christmas, sorry to say.”

Another reviewer claimed: “I haven’t been able to eat properly since nor leave the house and (it’s) therefore ruined my Christmas.

“Shame this has happened as this was a previously loved restaurant.”

In response to some of the reviews, Three Brothers Burgers said that after receiving the first complaint, the decision was made to close on Monday, December 22, and it has not reopened since.

Speaking to BristolLive, the restaurant said it is investigating what could have happened and it will remain closed over the next few days until Monday, December 29 at the earliest.

A spokesperson for Three Brothers Burgers said: “We are aware that a number of people have reported feeling ill after visiting our Three Brothers restaurant over last weekend.

“At present we are working with the EHO and our advisors to understand what may have been the reason that these people were unwell.

“We remain closed pending the outcome of the investigation.

“We are doing everything in our power to find out what has happened.”
