Wigan Warriors are the narrow favourites to get their hands on the Super League League Leaders’ Shield in 2026.
The Warriors ended 2025 empty handed after seeing Hull KR claim the Challenge Cup and the Shield before the Robins beat them convincingly at Old Trafford in the Grand Final.
As such, Matt Peet’s side will be determined to bounce back next year, knock KR off their perch and re-establish themselves as Super League’s number one club. That’s exactly what the bookies are predicting them to do, with Betfred having them at 2/1 to finish top over the course of the regular season.
Wigan have only made one major signing in Oliver Wilson and that continuity might just play into their hands, with KR making some changes to their squad and coaching staff in the off-season.
The treble winners are at 11/5 to retain their League Leaders’ Shield following their exploits in 2025, few would be backing against them.
Leeds Rhinos are at 11/2 to finish in first place under Brad Arthur, while Paul Rowley is being tipped to make a swift impact at St Helens with the Merseyside outfit at 7/1 to win the league.
Leigh Leopards finished third last season, but they’re only fifth favourites to win the Shield at 10/1, while the bookies fancy Warrington Wolves to bounce back from last year’s disappointing eighth placed finish with odds of 14/1.
Hull FC, who were much improved last season under John Cartwright, are at 16/1, while Catalans Dragons who have recruited heavily ahead of 2026 are at 28/1 to lift the trophy they won in 2021.
Wakefield Trinity (40/1), Huddersfield Giants (80/1) and Castleford Tigers (125/1) are all low on the odds list while the three promoted clubs are all available at 200/1 with Betfred.
