Each year Poole Harbour Canoe Club (PHCC) launches a photo competition along with its Wimborne-based Wimborne Paddlepsort group.

The entries come from winners of a monthly Facebook photo competition and are judged by members and friends via a YouTube video format.

The selected entries are also used for a calendar to raise awareness for the club and their various activities.

Winning gold for the 2025 Annual PHCC competition was Jeff Weston, with an impressive photograph of an icy seascape.

The image displays a vast iceberg with a natural arch, with two kayakers gliding on mirrored waters.

Paul Sutton’s photo, featuring a lone kayaker silhouetted by a sunset over the sea, won silver.

Meanwhile, a photo by Adrian Oates won bronze, capturing a scenic river scene beneath a historic stone bridge.

Other commended entries include Andy Phipps’ photo of a kayaker near an offshore lighthouse, Max Wray’s first-person perspective of a kayaking adventure on rough seas and Kim Pickering’s image of a kayaker gently gliding over calm, shimmery waters.

The club’s photo competition continues to serve as a testament to the beauty and adventure found within canoeing and kayaking.
