The Canaries are poised for an active month as they seek to add options to their struggling squad to help sustain a positive early impact that the Belgian has had since succeeding Liam Manning in November.
It will be a case of quality over quantity for City in January, with Clement pinpointing added creativity as a priority.
“I’m not going to go into detail about positions because I don’t want to put the people in the club with their back against the wall,” Clement said.
“Then you push them about those positions until the 31st of January, but it’s clear that we need to gain creativity in the final third. That’s what we saw also in this last game. We need to strengthen there and everybody is aligned around that.
“For me, it’s about quality. So, I prefer somebody who’s 12 years old but is an incredible player, and of course I’m exaggerating now, over somebody who’s 37 and did everything in the game, but he’s not fit anymore, and he cannot do it anymore.
“It’s about quality. Of course, if you can add quality and leadership and you can do both it’s always better but I know also it’s a January window is a difficult window because there’s not one club in the world who wants to lose their best players or players who played a lot of games.
“We will see. It’s about quality and getting the right quality. That’s the major thing.”
City’s efforts in the market will be led by sporting director Ben Knapper and the recruitment team, who have been criticised for their work in previous windows, which have left Norwich with a squad languishing four points adrift at the bottom of the Championship.
Many supporters have been left wondering what role Clement will play in their incoming business, and the man himself explained the importance of collaboration.
“I don’t have the time to look at games all over the world now because I’m totally into the story here,” Clement said.
“We have every three days games and we need to prepare for these games, for trainings and to prepare the team in everything so there’s no time for that. I’m working every minute that I’m awake for the moment and the last five and six weeks to get everything on track here in the club.
“We have other people in the club and the recruitment team to do that. They come to me with certain names with a list in certain positions and then I look at those names, and I say which one I favour or players that I don’t believe can be good enough for the squad.

“For the moment, there’s been really good cooperation between us to discuss everything. I think this is the normal way that every professional club works.Â
“I know from the past in some clubs that some fans still think that the manager can find all the players himself like it was 30-40 years ago. At that moment, it was possible because it was a totally different time in preparation in work with players. There were no videos, no video sessions and all these things, so you could focus on that as a manager, and even to go watch other games live.
“These days we don’t have time for that anymore, so that’s why there’s a really interesting part in every football club, and that’s the recruitment team.”
