Huge changes are on the way in 2026 as the UK state pension age begins to rise.

This will have major consequences for millions of Brits, impacting when they will be able to claim.

The pension age has been set at 66 for years, though this will gradually start to climb in the new year.

It impacts everyone born after April 6, 1960.

So people currently aged in their 50s and early 60s need to be aware of when they will be eligible to claim.

This may impact how long they need to keep working.

The age increase will be gradual on a month by month basis, eventually reaching 67 by 2028.

So some people will have to wait a few months after their 66th birthdays before they can claim and officially become pensioners.

The first group to be impacted will be those born between April 6 and May 5, 1960.

They will reach state pension age in 2026 but at 66 years and one month.

Everyone born after March 6, 1961 (currently aged up to 64) will not be able to claim their state pension until they are 67.
