Emmerdale actress Georgia Jay has announced she gave birth to her first child six months ago. Choosing to keep the arrival a secret from fans for a while, Georgia revealed her baby’s name in a heartwarming New Year’s post on social media.
Known for playing Steph Miligan in the soap, the actress surprised her Instagram followers by posting a black and white photo of herself holding her precious baby in her arms. The 33-year-old announced back in June of 2025 that she was pregnant.
However, fans were shocked to find out that Georgia had given birth within the same month as her pregnancy announcement, reports the Mirror. In the New Year post the actress shared the name of her little girl, writing: “Nora. June 2025.”
Many friends and fans of the actress have flooded the comments section of the post with supportive messages. Her fellow Emmerdale actors shared their love, with Beth Cordingly writing: “You are perfect and so is she. Love you x”, with Laura Norton added: “Yay congrats gorgeous”.
Many Instagram followers also commented on the name, with one person writing: “Congratulations Georgia what a beautiful name.” Another person also added: “Beautiful and a beautiful name too! Congratulations!”

Back in June, following weeks of fan speculation, Georgia took to social media to announce her pregnancy and show off her growing baby bump.
In another black and white snap of Georgia holding her stomach, she captioned the post: “As you’ve probably guessed, I’ve got some news to share!
“I know some of you have been wondering if you’ve been seeing a little bump on screen lately… well, it’s not your imagination… I’m having a baby! We’ve never been so excited and a little nervous all at once. Thank you for all the love and support.”
Georgia is still a relatively new character to Emmerdale, joining last year as the daughter of Caleb and Ruby. However, her character Steph has had a variety of intense storylines since she joined the soap.
One such storyline involved Steph finding out that her grandfather Anthony Fox was actually her dad after he abused Steph’s mum when she was a teenager.
After finding out, Steph tried to get plastic surgery to lessen her resemblance to the abuser. As the drama continued, Anthony ended up being killed by Ruby, with the death being covered up.
Following the aftermath of the drama, Georgia opened up about how her character was coping with it all. She revealed: “She has liberty to make her own choices. And it frustrates her that they are trying to take control of this choice, which she believes is fully hers.
“So she doesn’t react well at all. And I think it actually does kind of more damage than we would think in the sense that, you know.
“It takes her down an avenue that gets her plotting to perhaps self harm herself. And Ross finds her, of course, having this sort of terrible sort of moment. I’d say this is pretty much the lowest of the low. I think you gotta go rock bottom before you can get up.”
After announcing her pregnancy, Georgia left the show to go on maternity leave in August. However, it is thought that she will be returning to her role in the future.
