A section of the M11 has been closed following what police said was a “serious collision”.
Essex Police said one vehicle – a blue Nissan Almera – was involved in a crash on the northbound carriageway between junctions six, for Epping, and seven, for Harlow, shortly before 19:40 GMT.
The force said the stretch would be closed while emergency services responded to the incident and examined the scene. Police did not provide details about injuries, but the East of England Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
There was also a less serious collision on the other carriageway at about a similar time, but police believed it was a separate incident.
