Will Osula may be out injured but there are plenty of teams chasing his signatureWilliam Osula looks on from the bench during the Premier League match against Arsenal

Crystal Palace are keeping tabs on Will Osula as the Newcastle United striker continues to gain suitors ahead of a potential January move.

The 22-year-old hasn’t featured for the Magpies since November after being hit by an ankle injury, but that hasn’t stopped several clubs weighing up a move for him.

German side Frankfurt appear the front runners while Aston Villa reportedly continue to hold an interest in the Dane – and now, as revealed on The Everything is Black and White Podcast, Crystal Palace have come to the table.

The Eagles are lacking firepower – following an injury to Eddie Nketiah, leaving Jean-Philippe Mateta as the only senior striker available for manager Oliver Glasner. Osula is seen as a potential option this month with Nketiah set to miss up to eight games.

Toon boss Eddie Howe has been clear in recent days about the future of Osula, telling journalists ahead of the victory over Palace, that there was ‘no expectation’ the former Sheffield United forward would leave this month.

However, Howe did leave the door open for a potential exit for Osula, adding: “I think the only way that we would consider that would be for his development and growth in terms of benefiting his career to play, but always with a view to him coming back to us.”

Osula is aiming for a return to the Newcastle squad by the end of the month, which will be a welcome boost for Howe, offering him further options alongside Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa.

Addressing the potential exit of Osula, Mark Carruthers, co-host of The Monday Show via The Everything is Black and White Podcast, said: “I’d be slightly disappointed [to see Osula leave] just because of his character and the impact he seems to have in the dressing room – he seems a very lively character but at the same time I don’t think he’d be a massive loss.

‘If Newcastle can bring in £25m-£30m [from selling him] then that could be reinvested in someone who maybe can have an impact on the first team straight away and certainly someone who is closer to being a finished product than Will Osula.”

Palace struggled to create many meaningful chances in their 2-0 defeat at St James’ Park on Sunday, with only one shot on target all game.

That came from Brennan Johnson, a £35million signing last week from Tottenham Hotspur as the Eagles added extra firepower to Glasner’s squad for the second half of the campaign.
