On Friday, The Wire return to action for the first of two pre-season friendlies before the new campaign begins as they welcome Widnes Vikings to The Halliwell Jones Stadium.
With snow on the ground and freezing temperatures in recent days, however, there have been concerns as to whether or not the match will be able to go ahead.
Fortunately, though, the Warrington Guardian understands that, taking forecasts into account, the club have no concerns currently about the pitch being playable by Friday evening and there remains total confidence that the game will proceed as planned although they will continue to monitor the situation.
Temperatures dropped as low as minus six degrees on Monday night but according to the latest forecasts, that will be the worst of the cold weather with the dial set to remain above freezing between now and kick-off.
Snow also disrupted Warrington’s pre-season last year, with a scheduled friendly against Halifax Panthers last January falling victim to freezing weather.
The Wire named a strong starting line-up for the game on Monday featuring an array of first-team stars, with new signings Kelepi Tanginoa, Liam Byrne and Josh Smith set for their first outings for the club. An extended squad is set to be named later in the week.
