Donald Trump lashed out at a group of photographers during a press conference in Washington, D.C., today (Tuesday, January 6), where he addressed what the Republican Party was doing “right” for the United States of America after abducting Venezuela‘s leader. During the event, Trump, who was wearing his signature navy suit with a white shirt and red tie, took the opportunity to attack photographers at the back of the room. Leaning into the microphone, the President said: “We have one thing that is really strong…” He then pointed at someone in the conference and said: “Uh oh, it’s the fake news.” Trump went off script and pointed at a person who had reportedly won “three Pulitzer Prizes” as he said he liked the people in front of him.
However, the US Leader then pointed to the back of the room and stated: “I don’t like the people back there. These are the ones who take the pictures. Make me look thin for a change – you are making me look a little bit heavy, and I am not happy about it.”
He then got back on track with the rest of his speech and gave updates about Venezuela in what he calls his “amazing military achievement”.
The President was applauded as he detailed the “complex” operation when elite troops seized Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife on Saturday.
However, Trump acknowledged that “many, many” Cubans were killed in the military operation, which reportedly involved 152 planes.
According to the BBC, congressional leaders are hoping more details will be revealed on Wednesday as senior members of Trump’s administration are “expected” to brief both chambers.
Trump has said of the unprecedented operation: “The United States proved once again that we have the most powerful, most lethal, most sophisticated, and most fearsome.
“It’s a fearsome military on planet Earth, and it’s not even close. You know, I’ve been saying it for a long time. Nobody can take us.”
