Netflix has lined up another unmissable drama film and it’s based on an incredible bestselling novel.

Featuring some iconic names and helmed by a director who brought another iconic novel to life, Remarkably Bright Creatures is coming on 8th May.

Based on the debut novel by Shelby Van Pelt, the film will undoubtedly be highly anticipated by millions of readers as it spent an incredible 64 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list.

Netflix’s official synopsis reads: “A widow who works at a local aquarium finds joy again when she forms an unlikely bond with a giant Pacific octopus and a wayward young man who comes to town in search of family.

“Together, they uncover a mystery that will lead them to a life-changing discovery and restore their sense of wonder.”

Two-time Oscar-winning star Sally Field will portray widow Tova alongside Thunderbolts* and Top Gun: Maverick’s breakout star Lewis Pullman.

Director Olivia Newman, who previously brought Where the Crawdads Sing to life with Daisy Edgar-Jones, is helming the project with a script by John Whittington (Sonic the Hedgehog 3).

Other major names in the cast include Colm Meaney (Bring Them Down), Joan Chen (The Wedding Banquet), Kathy Baker (Edward Scissorhands), Beth Grant (Little Miss Sunshine) and Sofia Black-D’Elia (The Night Of).

Originally published in 2022, Remarkably Bright Creatures has developed a passionate following of fans over the years who will no doubt be thrilled to see it being brought to life on-screen.
