Aston Villa midfielder Amadou Onana is expected to return to action within the next two to three weeks.
The Belgium international was forced off at half-time during Villa’s match against Arsenal last week.
He subsequently missed the home win over Nottingham Forest but was present at the match and was seen congratulating his teammates after the 3-1 victory in the tunnel.
Villa drew 0-0 at Crystal Palace in their most recent outing. Onana is now expected to miss at least the next three games: the FA Cup clash with Tottenham, the Premier League fixture against Everton, and the Europa League match with Fenerbahce.
At the earliest, he could return for the trip to Newcastle United, though the home games against RB Salzburg or Brentford – at the end of January and start of February – may be more realistic return dates.
Onana previously missed seven matches earlier this season due to a hamstring injury sustained in the second game of the campaign at Brentford, before returning against Burnley ahead of the October international break.
The 24-year-old has made an impressive impact this season, starting 11 league matches and scoring twice, against Bournemouth and Brighton.
Meanwhile, Ross Barkley is also due back within in the next three weeks, but Villa received a boost in midweek when Pau Torres returned to the squad to face Palace.
Tyrone Mings may return to action on Saturday after nursing a hamstring injury for the last two months.
