Whilst Leeds Rhinos are focusing on retention ahead of the 2026 season, the family members of some past and present players have been on the move.

Starting with Rhinos legend, and the new CEO of the club, Jamie Jones-Buchanan, his son, Lore has made the switch to Bradford Bulls, and has joined their youth set-up.

The youngster has been named in the Bulls’ preliminary side to face Dewsbury Rams this weekend, as the club send a youthful squad to take on their local neighbours.

Jones-Buchanan made appearances in the Leeds’ academy and scholarship, but was released at the end of the 2025 season. Older brother, Dacx, is still at the Rhinos, and was part of the reserves Grand Final win over Warrington Wolves.

Brother of future Leeds Rhinos star joins Championship side from rugby union

Also on the move is Dan Lloyd, the brother of emerging Rhinos prospect, Zak, and he has joined Rochdale Hornets in the Championship.

He returns to the 13-man code after a spell in rugby union with Bradford Salem RFC – the club that former Bradford man Jorge Taufua now plays for.

A former Moldgreen player at amateur level, the 21-year-old was confirmed as a Hornet earlier this week, and commented on getting the deal over the line.

He said: “Signing for the Hornets is a great opportunity for me. I’m looking forward to working hard and helping the club achieve its goals.”

Andy Mazey, the Rochdale chairman, added: “We are delighted to welcome Dan to Rochdale Hornets. [He] has a rugby union background but is no stranger to league, and at 6’3 and weighing more than 18 stone, he’s clearly a big athlete.

“He has come in with a positive attitude and has made a good early impression on Gary Thornton and his coaching staff. He’s looking to grasp this opportunity in rugby league with both hands, and we are delighted to have him on board.”
