Clyde 1 is moving back into the city centre of Glasgow after 42 years in a brand new home on Queen Street this spring.

As announced on Bowie at Breakfast this morning, we’ll be based right across the road from the iconic Duke of Wellington statue and the Gallery of Modern Art.

Flagship shows including Bowie@Breakfast,  Garry Spence,  Superscoreboard,  Grant Thomson,  Callum Gallacher,  Amber and the award-winning Clyde 1 news team will come from the heart of the city.

All your favourite shows are coming to you from a brand new home.State-of-the-art studios

George Bowie, presenter of Bowie@Breakfast, said: “I started my career in Clydebank, so I’ll always have great memories of the place.

“But moving back into the city centre, into brand-new, state-of-the-art studios, is such an exciting step – and what a view of the Duke of Wellington to inspire us every morning.”

The station launched at 10.30pm on 31 December 1973 from the Anderston Centre, before relocating to Clydebank in 1983.

Looking forward

Now, in a landmark move, it will once again call the city centre home and the new space at 100 Queen Street will feature open-plan offices and state-of-the-art studios.

Cassi, co-presenter of Bowie@Breakfast, added: “We’ve had so many incredible moments in Clydebank – interviews with the world’s biggest stars, live sessions from the likes of Clydebank local Marti Pellow, and global popstars Ed Sheeran, and Taylor Swift.

“And of course, so many laughs, tears, and unforgettable stories with our amazing listeners.

“We can’t wait for them to be part of this next chapter.”

The station celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2023 with a whole year of celebrations including Clyde 1 Live at the OVO Hydro with Texas, Tom Walker and Callum Beattie.

Ahead of the curve

David Robertson, Director of Content, Hits Radio Network (Scotland & N.I.), said: “Clyde 1 has been Glasgow and the West’s number one station for over 50 years.

“As we continue to evolve in a fast-paced digital world, this move reflects our commitment to staying ahead – with modern facilities that will help us grow our market-leading position into the future.”

“We’re thrilled to have found such a fitting new home – right in the city centre, next to one of Scotland’s most iconic landmarks.

“Our teams can’t wait to get settled in and begin this exciting new era.”
