Rene Meulensteen snubbed Benjamin Sesko and turned his attention to one Manchester United signing who has failed to convince him at Old Trafford so far.
Benjamin Sesko has seen a recent turnaround in form at the Premier League club after Manchester United sacked ex-Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim last week.

The 22-year-old Slovenian forward netted a stunning brace to end his goalscoring drought in Man Utd’s 2-2 draw against Burnley at Turf Moor under Darren Fletcher.
Sesko followed up his superb impact against the Clarets last week by scoring again in United’s 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Brighton in the third round at Old Trafford.
The Slovenia international, who arrived at Old Trafford from RB Leipzig last summer, has netted five times in 19 matches across all competitions for United this season.

Senne Lammens has been praised since his arrival at Old Trafford on deadline day last September after Manchester United signed him from Royal Antwerp.
The 23-year-old Belgian shot-stopper replaced Andre Onana as United No 1 and he has kept two clean sheets in 16 matches across all competitions this season.

Despite earning praise for his impact so far, Senne Lammens has not impressed former Man Utd first-team coach Rene Meulensteen since his arrival at the club.
“I also think if you look at the top, top teams – look at Arsenal, they have a really good goalkeeper,” he told Sam Allardyce on the ‘No Tippy Tappy Football’ podcast.
“Liverpool, good goalkeeper. City, good goalkeeper. United is not good enough. The goalkeepers are not good enough.”

Rene Meulensteen sends a clear-cut message to Man Utd amid his honest verdict on Senne Lammens
Senne Lammens is the United first-team’s No 1 pick in the 2025-26 campaign, with Altay Bayindir now playing second fiddle to the Belgium international.
Tom Heaton is another shot-stopper option for United this season, but Meulensteen feels that the Red Devils needed another No 1 to allow Lammens to develop.

“This Lammens boy is potentially a really good goalkeeper,” Meulensteen added.
“I don’t think at this moment in time he’s ready, and he’s not good enough for this moment in time. That’s my opinion.”
Man Utd paid an initial transfer fee of £18.1m, including agreeing to potential add-ons, to sign Lammens from Belgian Pro League side Royal Antwerp in 2025.
