Hull FC have confirmed that Aidan Sezer will continue his role as captain for the 2026 season.

Sezer was one of the first recruits made by head coach John Cartwright following his appointment in 2024, with the half-back enjoying a stellar first season in the Black and White.

The 34-year-old was the club’s first Australian-born skipper in almost 15 years in 2025, and follows on from the likes of Craig Fitzgibbon, Richard Swain, Greg Mackey and Herbert Gilbert as skipper of the side.

Sezer, who has over 250 senior appearances under his belt, finished in seventh in the overall Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel voting last year. He is the 61st permanent captain of the club.

“It’s a massive honour to be named captain once again,” Sezer said. “This is a prestigious club so to be awarded the captaincy is something that I am really relishing and I’m looking forward to leading this new group.

“I’ve loved my time here so far; to have the captaincy means it’s up to you to lead with your actions – something I’m really big on. Helping those younger inexperienced boys to come through and be the best version of themselves is also a big part.

“This is a tight group; there’s no cliques, and I love coming in every day. It’s refreshing to be amongst a squad like this at this stage of my career. Hand on my heart, this is one of the best groups I’ve been a part of.”

Hull have also confirmed that John Asiata will support Sezer as vice captain in 2026. The loose-forward, like Sezer, is in full training once again after off season operations and gearing up for a big year.
