Manchester United enjoyed an impressive evening against Bournemouth in pre-season last time out, winning 4-1 in Chicago.
Rasmus Hojlund kicked off the scoring spree, followed by Patrick Dorgu, Amad and young talent Ethan Williams adding to the tally. The only blemish on the performance was an own goal from Matthijs de Ligt, but it did little to dampen the spirits after such a display.
In other news, United’s primary attention in the summer transfer window has now shifted towards RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko. The Reds are stepping up their pursuit of the Slovenian, having realised that chasing Ollie Watkins would likely prove unproductive.
Below are some of the latest United headlines as well as a view on each one…
Sesko ‘bid’
United are reportedly preparing a bid for Sesko if he wants to join the Reds this summer.
“Manchester United have informed RB Leipzig that they are prepared to send formal bid for Benjamin Sesko, if player accepts the destination,” journalist Fabrizio Romano said on X (Twitter).
“Newcastle also ready to bid since last week and to match Å eÅ¡ko’s financial request. Decision up to Sesko.”
Isaac Seelochan of the MEN says: “Sesko would be a major upgrade on United’s current strikers and a welcome addition to Ruben Amorim’s team.
“The one concern will be his lack of Premier League experience, with another Reds-linked No.9 in Ollie Watkins perhaps a better short-term option in that regard. However, Sesko is younger and has greater potential than the Villa striker.
“He could be a superb signing if United can get him.”
Osimhen announcement
Galatasaray have confirmed the signing of United-linked Victor Osimhen on a permanent deal from Napoli. The Nigerian striker will join for €75 million (£65m), including €5m (£4m) in bonuses based on performance targets.
“I don’t know how to describe my feeling,” he said. “I’m so excited to arrive at a place I love.
“I am home and I am very happy. I’m glad to be back here. I was offered a lot of money, but my love for Galatasaray is greater.
Isaac Seelochan of the MEN says:”It would have been great to see Osimhen in the Premier League, but there was clearly something about him that put top English clubs off a move. Unless that is, he genuinely is in love with Galatasaray and wanted to join them over anyone else.”
