John Eustace hailed an “excellent” Derby County performance as they secured a 1-0 win at Preston. Patrick Agyemang popped up with the winner with eight minutes remaining when he headed beyond Jack Walton after a cross from Ben Brereton Diaz.
And asked for his assessment of the game, Eustace said: “I thought it was an excellent performance.
“We took the game to a really good team from the first minute, and we fully deserved the three points.
“I was very proud of the effort from the group.

“We went toe to toe with a very physical team on a difficult pitch and we asked some players to do something that is maybe not in their nature, but they stood up and they did it to the tee.
“In the end, I’m disappointed that we didn’t score more goals, but obviously over the moon that we won the game.”
Derby created the better chances before they took the lead with Agyemang missing a sitter while Rhian Brewster was also denied when put clean through.
Asked whether he felt it could be one of those days before Agyemang scored the winner, Eustace said: “Absolutely.
“As long as we didn’t lose the game, that would have been very harsh on us.
“But sometimes if you don’t put the chances away and you keep a clean sheet, it’s a good away performance.
“But Patrick has popped up with the winner and it was fully deserved I felt.”
